Robyn Jackson-The Artist
I have always been fascinated by colour, texture, design and fabrics. I started early on with batik and progressed to weaving and fabric art during my college degree in Textiles and Design.
Painting on silk is my favourite medium. I am inspired by the vibrant colours on silk and the way the dye flows and blends to create infinite colours. I am constantly taking photos of our beautiful East Coast Beaches and our surrounding bush, as inspiration for my silk paintings.
I start with a strong photo (or photos), then my mark making consists of a gutta (coloured rubber outline) drawing followed by vibrant coloured dyes that create a story of their own. I love the sometimes unexpected results achieved with dyes on silk.
I am a colourist and enjoy using complementary colours to create a vivid contrast in my landscapes.
My 9th solo exhibition "Blue Moon” runs from the 15th November - 3rd December, November 2023, at Macleay Valley Community Art Gallery, 5 Kinchela Street, Gladstone, NSW.
I was very excited to be awarded first in painting in the Crescent Head Surf Art Exhibition 2015, for my painting "Back Beach Afternoon". I was also Commended in the South West Rocks Open painting section for Spider Lily Walk. In 2020 I was also selected for the Glasshouse Northern Exposure 6.
I am now enjoying life as a full time artist exhibiting regularly, working on commissions as well as running Silk Painting classes and workshops. Canvas prints, limited edition prints, hand painted scarves and artist cards are also available to purchase.
